How many tournaments do your teams typically participate in?
Depending on the age group, our teams will participate in 7-10 tournaments throughout the season. Most teams play one to two tournaments in the fall, and one indoor tournament in the winter. Teams without high school players typically start participating in spring tournaments in May. Teams with high school players will start in mid-late June, following the high school season.
How many times a week do you practice?
All teams typically practice once or twice a week through fall, winter, and spring. To accommodate high school players, 14U and 16U teams generally have one optional practice per week during the high school season. The summer practice schedule depends on tournament and league schedules. Typically, teams try to practice once a week in the summer.
Where do you practice?
We practice at various areas in and around the Madison area. In the winter, we have multiple indoor facilities that we use to ensure our players are staying active through the cold weather. Typically, outdoor practices take place in Fitchburg and Madison.
What about Multi-sport athletes?
Many of our players are involved in multiple sports, whether at the club or high school level, and we encourage that! For that reason, we don’t monitor practice attendance, especially not in the off-season. However, it is important for our players to know their commitment to practice in the off-season shows on and off the field. When tournament season comes, the best players will see more playing time and that usually corresponds with the girls who committed their time to Revolution practices. It is important to communicate practice conflicts with the head coach at all times.
Do we have parent coaches?
We are an organization with a mixture of parent and non-parent coaches, depending on the team. All coaches were chosen for their skill level and knowledge of softball. They may have played at the college level, coached club or high school teams, or otherwise developed the necessary softball skills to serve as a coach. We are confident that we have experienced coaches to allow your player to grow in their softball skills and abilities as long as they put the effort in!

What are your fees?
Every year, the club has a designated fee plus the cost of uniforms. This fee covers tournament and league fees, insurance, indoor and outdoor practice fees, and a small amount for administrative costs. Fees are payable in three installments. We also run a minimum of two fundraisers through the year with a portion of what is raised going back to your player’s fees and uniform costs.
Do you participate in league?
Teams have the option to participate in a weekly league. This is determined by individual teams and coaches.
Where are tournaments located?
Each team is able to decide how far they are willing to travel for tournaments. Typically, tournaments are within two hours of Madison. The club tries to hold at least one tournament per summer with all teams in attendance, and we typically get a hotel to keep the club together. Additionally, some teams may choose to participate in a national level tournament that requires further travel. Ultimately, the tournament location and schedule is left to each individual team’s discretion.
How do we join the Revolution?
Club tryouts are typically held in late July and early August in Fitchburg or Madison. We offer multiple tryout dates for each age division. Coaches select players for their teams based on the tryout evaluations. Occasionally, a team will have a need for a player outside of the tryout window. Please contact us to inquire about any vacancies if it is outside of the tryout window! For more information, view our tryout page here!
